At the Wind Engineering Lab, a team is working to harness a building's natural ventilation to allow it to stay cool or warm up at just the right times.

 

Residential and commercial buildings account for 40 percent of U.S. energy consumption, and a significant share of that is tied to heating and cooling. Buildings of the future could harness natural ventilation to stay cool or warm up at just the right times, saving energy and money while improving indoor air quality and comfort at the same time.
